Wellbeing doesn’t stop at the office doors. That’s why H. Essers and Golazo Energy organised a memorable family day at Thor Park, bringing together 2000 colleagues and their families for a day of fun, teamspirit and physical activity. As the integral part of the Fit2Grow strategy, this event aimed to enhance engagement and physical fitness, not only to the employees, but to the entire H. Essers community.
Headquartered in Genk, Belgium, H. Essers is a leading logistics and transport company. Founded in 1928, they now have over 6000 employees, active in 85 branches all throughout Europe.
As a company with lots of employees on the road, H. Essers is the first to recognise the importance of employee engagement and staying active, as they commit to creating a vibrant and inclusive workplace. Golazo Energy was asked to design an experience that caters to diverse interests and age groups, while also focusing on 3 objectives:
Together we developed the Fit2Grow strategy, focusing on engagement and physical activity among employees. The apotheosis of our Fit2Grow Year Plan was a final family event at Thor Park. By inviting family, more colleagues were encouraged to participate and got to know their coworkers even better. A mix of activities made sure both adults and children had a memorable day. The little ones got to romp around in the Kids Zone, while the parents enjoyed each other’s company. Those who wanted to show their improved fitness level could do so in teams with the Spartacus Thor, a 7-kilometer-long obstacle run. Only by working together could they succeed. A healthy barbeque at the end of the day brought the whole H.Essers Community together for a memorable evening.
Bringing that many people together isn’t an easy feat. Close collaboration between Golazo Energy and H.Essers was essential. Together we not only organised the event, we also took care of subscription and most importantly, activation. Leading up to the event we launched a campaign so employees would be encouraged to join, but also to start living more active lives. Through our tailor-made platform we offered bootcamp videos, challenges and training schedules. By setting a clear goal -the final event- colleagues were able to support each other in boosting their fitness levels.
The family day yielded impressive results. It strengthened the sense of community by bringing everyone together. Physical activity is an excellent way to build strong teams that support each other, and it shows:
While the event was a resounding success, challenges were encountered and valuable lessons were learned. Balancing diverse interests and ensuring seamless coordination for an event of this scale required meticulous planning. As we design future initiatives, these challenges serve as an excellent learning opportunity to continuously improve.
The most important thing to take away is that dedication to employee wellbeing is always rewarding. The Fit2Grow strategy not only achieved its goals but exceeded them, by creating a memorable experience for more than 2000 employees and their families. The partnership between Golazo Energy and H.
