If you want high performance as a company, it all comes down to your human capital. Operating in well over 50 countries and employing hundreds of people, established bank company ING knows that all too well.
Employees at ING were looking for ways to boost their energy levels and level of engagement on the work floor. Despite already offering a wide range of wellbeing programs, they needed the expertise and proper guidance to choose the right program tailored to individual needs.
Understanding the needs and preferences of ING’ers was essential to design the contents of the programme and to seamlessly integrate it into daily operations. Our team worked closely with ING’s management and HR to devise a strategic plan and ensure a successful implementation. We introduced Vitality Boost.
Vitality Boost boosts not just one journey, but 9 full-fletched Energy Journeys, each one lasting for 8 weeks and focusing on a specific wellbeing topic.
Mental resilience, nutrition, purpose, work enjoyment, stress, focus, sleep, exercise and trust & safety.
In doing so, employees can get the right journey for their personal energy needs. They didn’t have to figure this out themselves. After a Human Energy Scan, a scientifically based questionnaire, we matched the right Energy Journey to the right person.
In May 2023, we soft-launched Vitality Boost for a small group. This allowed us to gather valuable feedback and further optimise the programme to the needs of the employees. The first participants also became ambassadors for the Vitality Boost programme.
The big launch in September included an extensive and phased internal communications campaign. Through postering, digital screens, online presence, customized energy bars, active breaks, and meditation sessions, we were able to raise awareness and engagement for Vitality Boost.

A second Human Energy Scan at the end of the Energy Journey helps us determine their progress and analyze the results based on data.

That, combined with consistent and effective communication, is bringing a shift in the mindset at ING. The many positive reactions show that a holistic wellbeing approach is viable in even the largest companies.
